David Lytle Memorial Foundation

The local organization that I chose to highlight is The David Lytle Memorial Foundation, which was founded in 2007 after David’s passing. After an auto accident that left him a quadripeligic, David never viewed his injury as a disability and never let it keep him from living a fulfilling life. David inspired many of his friends here in Medina and together they started this wonderful organization. I thought the word “Grace” fit in with this group perfectly, as one meaning for grace is “seemingly effortless beauty or charm of movement, form, or proportion”. How appropriate as this nonprofit organization assists persons with spinal cord injuries in exploring opportunities they may not have realized were available to them. Funds raised are used to provide support in acquiring assistive technology such as wheelchairs, walkers, ramps, vehicles, computer track ball devices, touch screens, and any other device used to improve the life of a person with a spinal cord injury. Additionally, the Foundation can provide grants or scholarships for activities such as educational and conference opportunities, camping, travel, and adaptive sporting programs.   Being a rehabilitation provider for extreme sports athletes for the past ten years, I know first hand how important an organization like this can be. Several of the athletes that I’ve worked with have had spinal cord injuries from falls during their sports performances. They’ve been faced with life in a wheelchair. Funds run out fast from medical care and prolonged hospital stays. Getting “back to normal” is not an option. With a great group of people like The David Lytle Foundation, a more productive life and a new normal can be accomplished. A new sense of grace of movement and mobility needs to be found.   I applaud the Foundation and will donate 10% of all gift certificate earnings for the month of May to The David Lytle Foundation. Won’t you help as well? Simply purchase a gift certificate for your Mother at our office or on our website www.NTWellnessCenter.com, and we’ll take care of the rest! Help us to help others.   If you or anyone you know needs this type of assistance, the organization is accepting applications. To apply for assistance please go to their website were there is detailed information, and also how to donate to this very wonderful organization.   www.TheDavidLytleMemorialFoundation.org
