An Interview with Nancy…

1.  When did your business or organization get started?  What circumstances led to its creation?

I finished my Life Coaching certification in September of 2005 and started Crossroads Coaching at that time.  I had been informally doing coaching type things for years and a friend I met through the community support organization I’d started (http://www.highlandcsn.org) introduced me to the idea of life coaching and suggested I get trained in it.  I began formally incorporating my intuitive gifts into my practice in November of 2006.

2.  What inspires you to help others?

I’m inspired to help others because of my own struggles.  I went through a difficult divorce in 2000.  At the same time, I experienced a spiritual awakening that led to the blossoming of my intuitive gifts.  With this new sensitivity came anxiety and eventually exhaustion.  I spent many years learning how to take better care of myself and learning how to be comfortable being who I am.  I love helping others learn how to share their gifts without sacrificing their own needs and well-being.

3.  What is your greatest success story with a client?

I have worked with many people who are empathic and highly sensitive.  Often, they are extremely overwhelmed and experiencing anxiety and exhaustion.  The techniques I share help them return to a place of peace and discover how to take control of their sensitivity so it becomes a gift instead of a curse.  I know personally how frightening it is to have your gifts suddenly blossom without the needed shielding and grounding techniques. It has been very rewarding to see people move out of this space and into a place of safety and well-being.

4.  What would people be surprised to know about you?

I also teach elementary school (third grade) and have had one of my children’s stories published in LadyBug Magazine.  My husband and I have also written/illustrated a children’s workbook called Make Me!  A Young Author’s Guide to Illustrating and Writing that has been used in local schools.  It’s available at Jeff’s website: http://www.jnicholasart.com.

5.  What are your favorite books and movies?

I love stories…fantasy and light mysteries are my favorites.  I also love books about spirituality and psychology.  Some of my favorite authors are: Deepak Chopra, Joseph Campbell, Kahlil Gibran, Sarah Ban Breathnach, Jan Spiller, and Clarissa Pinkola Estes.  My favorite movies are: August Rush, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Indiana Jones movies, The Chronicles of Narnia, and Oh Brother Where Art Thou?

6.  What do you love to do when you aren’t working?

Be in the woods!  I love nature, especially trees!  I also love being with my family and friends, talking with God and my guides, doing yoga, reading good books, watching good movies, and bird watching.
