1. When did your business or organization get started? What circumstances led to its creation?
I began my business, Aquarian Elements, in May, 2005 when I received my APP, the first level of Polarity certification. As I worked, I continued my training and received my RPP, the advanced certification, in December, 2006. In 2008, I received my teacher training registration and joined the faculty of the Institute of Holistic Health Careers and began teaching Polarity and Elemental Reflexology.
Presently, I am happy to announce the opening of Medina Holistic Health, a center for Holistic Classes and Therapies. It is a natural evolution of my business as it allows me to the integrate my two roles as teacher and therapist while providing a space for other holistic practitioners to introduce their work to the Medina community.
2. What inspires you to help others?
My own healing journey… I had been in constant pain for years and knew there had to be an alternative to the anti-depressants and pain killers. I spent several years searching out and trying all kinds of holistic therapies and remedies. It wasn’t until I found Polarity that all the pieces came together for me.
I know that healing is possible for everyone, regardless of the condition, and that I have a wide base of personal experience from which to guide others…
3. What is your greatest success story with a client?
Although most healings and personal transformations unfold slowly and gently over time, there have been a few dramatic events. The one that comes to mind is the woman with Parkinson’s. When she arrived, her face was pale and contorted, and one side of her body had tremors. Over the course of the hour session, her tremors gradually lessend until she was completely still. When she sat up, I did not recognize her as the same woman that had first come in… her face had completely relaxed, she had rosy cheeks, she was at peace. It was a beautiful and extraordinary experience.
I have come to believe that perfect health lies within each of us, and the secret to all healing is simply to allow that inner state to come forth…
“Each client carries his or her own healer inside. They come to me not knowing that truth. Healing occurs when the client re-connects with their own Inner Healer, and allows that wisdom to guide their process. I am at my best when I can re-connect the client to their own Inner Healer, by helping them to remember who they are.” – JMT
4. What would people be surprised to know about you?
That I am married to a physician… we have so much in common, but when it comes to health issues, we are at opposite ends of the spectrum.
5. What are your favorite books and movies?
The books I read tend to be mostly related to healing, energy work, anatomy, astrology and metaphysics… but my favorite movies are the old ones that make me laugh long and hard, like “What’s Up Doc?” “Arsenic & Old Lace” “It’s a Mad, Mad World.” I also love well-acted, tightly-written movies such as “Fracture” and the recent “Block Island.” But two of my all-time favorites are “Don Juan DeMarco” and “A Little Romance.”
6. What do you love to do when you aren’t working?
I am basically a homebody, so just about anything at home… puttering, organizing, cooking, exercising, writing, listening to beautiful music, meditating. I love my times of quiet solitude and find that they are essential to keeping myself centered, balanced and grounded.
